NTIS SANDBOX INTRODUCTION
The NTIS is a national initiative which serves as a ‘safe place’ to allow innovators to test their products, services, business models and delivery mechanisms in a live environment with relaxations on all or specific processes and/or regulatory requirements. In support of the NTIS programme, MTDC offers the NTIS Fund which will finance relevant activities under the programme
Details of the Programme
- Malaysian or Malaysian Owned Company
- Has been successfully accepted into the National Technology and Innovation Sandbox
- SINGLE SITE SANDBOX
- 100% funding (grant) of eligible costs or up to RM250,000
- Sandbox activities at a single site only
- 6 months project duration
- For technology validation, market validation & regulatory compliance activities
- MULTIPLE SITE SANDBOX
- 70% funding (grant) of eligible costs or up to RM500,000
- Sandbox activities at multiple sites
- 6 months project duration
- For technology validation, market validation & regulatory compliance activities
- COMMERCIALISATION SANDBOX
- 70% funding (grant + Convertible promissory note) of eligible costs or up to RM4,000,000
- Commercialisation of validated technologies/products
- 18 months project duration
- For commercialisation activities
- CORPORATE SANDBOX
- 1:1 Matching funding between MTDC and approved corporate partner
- For validation or commercialisation activities
- Duration depending on project requirements
- SANDBOX 1 & 2
- Technology Licensing/Consultation Fees
- Product registration/regulatory compliance costs
- Cost of production for Sandbox Technology/Product
- Outsourcing costs
- IP-related costs, including novelty search, patent drafting & legal costs
- Technology validation activities

- SANDBOX 3 & 4
- Purchase of machinery & equipment
- Technology Licensing/Consultation Fees
- Product registration/regulatory compliance costs
- Cost of production for Sandbox Technology/Product

- Operational expenditures
- Advertising, Marketing & Promotional activities
*All costs described above are may be subject to capping/restrictions as determined by the Fund Approval Committee
- SANDBOX FUND 1 & 2 – Not more than 6 months
- SANDBOX FUND 3 – Not more than 18 months
- SANDBOX FUND 4 – Depending on scope of project
